Borana University, 27/10/2025 Borana University hosted a successful Community Engagement Forum, organized by the Community Engagement Directorate, to highlight achievements and strengthen partnerships with local stakeholders.
The event opened with blessings from community elders, followed by a welcome speech from Dr. Galma Bonaya, Vice President for Academic and Research Affairs, who emphasized the importance of collaboration.
Dr. Befekadu Chemere, President of Borana University, stressed that community engagement enhances educational outcomes and fosters innovation, urging active participation from all stakeholders. Dr. Galgalo Dika, Community Engagement Director, provided an overview of the university’s contributions, while Mr. Galma Wako, Director of Research, shared insights into academic research.


The forum featured a lively discussion, with Hon. Mr. Abduselam Wario, Borana Zone Chief Administrator, praising the university’s commitment to community engagement. In closing, Dr. Befekadu Chemere reaffirmed the importance of such initiatives for building strong community ties. The event was well-attended, with university management, students, religious leaders, representatives from the press, government officials including Hon. Mr. Liban Chulu, President of Borana Zone High Court, and NGOs.
